There's a few things that have been on my mind lately that I would love a little bit of advice about.
1. We experience frigid Wisconsin winters. I'm a little unsure what to do about winter clothing for Sam and Anna. Everywhere I look, the bunting-type snowsuits go up to 6-9 month or 12 month size. The winter coats/snowpant separates start at 12 month size. Sam and Anna are just starting to get into 6-9 month clothing. What do I get for them? I wonder if a 6-9 month bunting would last the entire winter, and they are definitely not as warm as the coat/snowpant combos. I think they'd be swimming in the 12 month coat/snowpant options though. And will they be able to crawl/play in the snow (when they learn how to crawl) in the buntings? I want to get them soon so we don't have to forgo walks on chilly days (although today hit a rare 80 degrees, this morning it was in the 40's). Help, please!
2. Now that Sam and Anna are older babies, I think we need to branch out and get some more sophisticated toys for their age. I've been beginning to get the feeling that they are bored of the same old rattles and such. We have a V-Tech roll ball, a standing table, and several stacking toys (and of course, an exersaucer and jumperoo) that are beyond the simple rattle stage. What toys did your child(ren) absolutely love at around 7 months?
3. The big Halloween question. Sam and Anna have adorable costumes hanging in their closet. Now that I've gotten them, I actually started to think about the logical side of my 7 month old babies and Halloween. Is it acceptable to take them trick or treating, even though they can't eat any of it, just to show off how cute they are? And if it isn't, then what do we do with them to make use of their cute costumes? I'm thinking dress them up and keep them at home to help pass out candy... and take lots of pictures- am I right?
Thanks! Y'all rock!

Old Navy has the one piece bunting snowsuit things that are 6-12 months. That's what we got the girls. They are 8 months, but just now getting into 6 month clothes. I figure it will last most of the winter.
Wish I could help you on the bunting... I am kinda in the same boat (without the super bitter temps, just lots and lots of cold rain and some snow...) As far as the Halloween question goes, I am dressing the kids up and just passing out candy at my SIL's house. I'm dressing up too lol! I would only trick or treat if I was in a neighborhood where I know everyone (as you may be) or if an older child like my niece was trick or treating. But she's not, so it's staying at home for us!
Glad you survived the weekend - sounds rough! And I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only one conflicted about Grandma visits... sad as that is to say.
I have no idea what I'm going to do about the freezing cold weather. I live in Canada and it gets frigid and awful here, too.
The toys Noah spends the most time with right now (at almost 7 months)are a Fisher Price Laugh and Learn table, the Laugh and Learn puppy (L.O.V.E.S. IT) those stacking rings, Baby's First Blocks (you know the different shaped blocks that go in the bucket through the matching shaped holes in the lid?), and then various odds and ends toys like jittery pals and stuff. My parents have this cool toy that looks like a treehouse sort of thing and has two discs that spin around on the bottom and 4 balls that spin around on them. You press a button or put the ball through one of several holes at the top and it starts the spinning. Noah loves it. He sits and stares at it as it goes crazy, and when it stops he presses the button again. Over and over. He also likes the cars and trucks that they have.
I don't know about toys other than that. I'll be interested to see what other people have.
Halloween - I don't think it's appropriate it bring a baby out for halloween since mom and dad are clearly going to eat the candy. I'd be mildly annoyed if a 7 month old came to my house to trick or treat. It's like when the 18 year olds go trick or treating. There are appropriate ages to go trick or treating, and there are innappropriate ages. But I hate halloween in general, and am annoyed by almost every trick or treater. lol!
when i had my first baby's first halloween, we bought her costume and originally planned on just bringing her around for family to see. however, she got sick so we just stayed in. if you are close with your neighbors, i'm sure they wouldn't mind seeing the little ones all dressed up. but staying in and passing out candy is a great idea too!!! it will be your last halloween being able to do that. next year they will be 17 months and i'm sure they will have a blast going!!!
Hi! Great questions! I don't know about winter clothes, we don't have too awful of winters here in Oregon (knock on wood), but I am hitting up a GIANT consignment sale next week and intend to look for some stuff for colder weather.
And also for some toys! It's funny you posted this because we are in the EXACT same spot. Our little ones are growing bored with rattles too =) One thing in particular I am going to be looking for is the Fisher Price "Lights and Sounds Mirror"...I think that is what it is called. L&A are just starting to sit up unassisted, and it brings all kinds of new toys into play!
As for Halloween, we are dressing our babies up, but just taking them to a Harvest Party at our Church.
Bundle Me (http://jjcolecollections.com/original-bundleme) work pretty well in the cold, yes you would still have to layer them up... but it saves you from putting them in to gigantic clothes (which they might fight wearing) when you are headed for a walk.
I can't wait to see the costumes! :)
I live in Texas. I have no snowsuit advice whatsoever - except that anyone living in Wisconsin should definitely move to Texas. :)
