Gosh, I've been simultaneously thinking about this and dragging my feet for close to 2 months now. Our daycare provider has been pretty anti-haircut every time I mention his hair, but I also got my first stranger comment about the length of his hair the other day. My in laws have said to Sam a few times, "the next time we see you, I bet you will have gotten your hair cut!" (Why do adults talk to us though kids, by the way? Like we don't get that they are really saying it to us.) But my mother illustrated her thoughts by telling me how long and tipped with curls my brother's hair was before she got it cut. Deep down, I know it doesn't matter one bit what relatives, strangers or our daycare provider says... its all 100% what we think. I think I've been ready for a while, but I was just scared that I would really, really regret cutting it. True, it does grow back, but you can never tape it back on, you know? I didn't want to get mad at myself (like I typically get after I get my hair cut) or cry.
Thankfully, I did neither.
Sam did well- after he got his first-ever sucker to focus on. He sat so uncharacteristically still, I was impressed! He only fussed a little at the end, mostly because I took his sucker away!

You made me laugh out loud with what you said about adults talking to us through kids...SO TRUE and SO ANNOYING!!
Love the cut =) I fought David for a long time about cutting Luke's hair. He's only done it once so far, but he's due again...sniff, sniff...
Sam looks very handsome!
I keep putting off getting our boys their 1st haircuts even though I've gotten the hints from family. When people start mistaking them for girls I'll go for it.
And I HATE when people talk to you through the kids.
Huge milestone :) He looked adorable before the cut and still looks just as cute as ever after!
What a big boy sitting in a haircut chair!
His hair is still so long! No wonder you didn't regret your decision or cry - he's still got lots of hair left! :)
I use the buzzers on Noah and cut it to like 3/4 of an inch long. And I don't even usually let it get as long as Sam's "after" photo, so I'm laughing. Not at you, just at the difference in our tolerance for our little boy's long hair.
And I know what you mean about people talking to you through your kids. Do they want you to answer? Is it rude if you don't? If you have something to say, say it! Annoying.
Cute!!! I love it! I know it's a tough situation-- I also debated for weeks before I finally went for it. I didn't regret it either, but maybe that's because Camden had a mullet pre-haircut. I wish I could take him somewhere to get it done but I'm not sure how that would fly with his stranger anxiety being off the charts. Of course, a sucker would help...
(Have I ever told you that you look EXACTLY like my dental hygienist? I mean, identical! And her name is Katie too. I would try to get a picture for you if that wasn't totally weird.)
I'm emerging from my hold and just now realizing how big the kiddos have gotten.
Nugget's first haircut was hard for me. But he looked so much better after. I look back at pictures and think "What was I thinking?"
Thanks for sharing the cute pics. They made me smile.
Congrats on going through with it! He looks very handsome! And I love the pic of the 2 of you together! So cute!
Awwww! Sam looks so cute with his haircut! I know you were anxious, but I think you made the right decision!
So, how much snow did you get? We got probably around 6-7 inches...
What a trooper! Sam's haircut looks adorable!!
My MIL also likes to interject her opinions through talking with the babies. I HATE it!!!
He looks adorable! Good choice mama!
He is such a beautiful child. :)
What a cute little guy! I can see how it could be tough to cut his hair. It is a nice first hair cut, too. :)
