It will be the first of many road trips since our families live in the adjoining state, but I'm full of stress about it all the same. I hope my little ones do well with all the changes and become seasoned travellers quickly.
Here's a list of everything I'm worried about:
- I'm worried they will get overstimulated and get super cranky and won't be able to sleep
- I'm worried their schedule will get majorly disrupted and they'll get super cranky and won't be able to sleep
- I'm worried that their reflux will be an issue and they'll be super cranky and won't be able to sleep
- I'm worried that since they'll have to share the co-sleeper at night they won't be able to sleep well and then will be super cranky.
- I'm worried that they won't tolerate the long time in their car seats and (you guessed it) won't be able to sleep and will get super cranky
- I'm worried that we'll forget something VERY important like the miracle blankets and ___(fill in the blank)
- I'm worried that their very likely crankiness will cause some of my in-law relatives to inaccurately judge my parenting skills.
- I'm worried that I won't have any time to figure out what the heck I'm going to wear!
Wish us luck!

The first trip is definitely scary, not knowing how they'll react. I hope things go smoothly for you! I'm flying by myself to visit my cousin next week with Lexi. I'm terrified to be flying alone with her with no support. We'll have to exchange notes when we get back :)
I hope things go well for you...just remember, if you forget something, you can always purchase new.
Our first road trip with Lexi was a 8 hour drive from Chicago to Erie, PA...when she was 4 1/2 months old. The car ride she loved...and actually STTN for the first time while on the trip. We had forgotten her little glow seahorse at home, so had to buy a new one at Target in PA.
First trips are stressful. We took our first road trip to Illinois when Nugget was 3 months old. We left in the evening and drove through the night both ways. It's a 6+ hour drive. He slept the entire time. So, try to drive at naptime.
Another thing to keep in mind, with the exception of the miracle blankets, should you forget anything, map out the nearest Target or Walmart to where you staying. This put my mind at ease when we traveled to California.
Lastly, set out your outfits and wedding attire in advance. You're a smart girl, I'm sure you've already thought of this. Before we traveled, I set out all my and Nuggets outfits on the guest bed.
Oh, and one more thing. Bring laundry detergent and plenty of extra outfits with you just in case. Nuggets is a blowout champ, so I needed to be prepared and didn't want to buy a full bottle of detergent while on the road.
There is a first time for everything. If everything doesn't go smoothly, you'll have more experience and ideas for next time.
Good luck and have fun!
Lots of luck. Matteo always ended up sleeping great on trips when he was that little. We took him to a wedding and he stayed in the ballroom with all the noise and had a blast. Just make sure you have plenty of time on you. M always did better when we could stop stretch or cuddle. I also recommend getting ready in the morning and waiting until it is about time for their nap so you can get as much sleeping in the car as you can.
I was really stressed for our first road trip, too. I recently drove home (4 hours) without hubby and with baby. She did sleep most of the time in the car. What I found the hardest was that, when at home, everyone wants time with baby, which means she gets thrown completely off her schedule. But I think you just sometimes have to tell people no and plan as best you can around baby's schedule. Good luck!
Good luck and I hope you all have fun! I could not imagine all of that planning, especially with twins. You can do it because you are awesome and you will look fabulous doing it, too.
Good luck with the trip. I bet it'll go better than you expect.
Good luck! I hope it goes very well for you guys!!
My one piece of advice is to not worry about their schedule while away. Just let them nap when they can, feed them when you have a change and just don't worry about it. I found that is the only way you can tolerate the trip otherwise you will/ I will drive ourselves nuts! When you get back home, you can worry about getting them back on track then. Good Luck!
good luck! i bet they will surprise you. :)
