Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... (Author Unknown)

I cry everytime I read this. I have 2 friends waiting for me there. I know they will be there to welcome Benelli and show him around.
Thinking of you and your hubby today. I've been in your shoes and it isn't easy.
Sending you love and ((HUGS))
Thinking of you! {HUGS}
I'm so, so sorry for your loss.
Hugs...
And I'm crying... that gets me every time. I'm so sorry for the loss of your sweet Benelli.
Sooo sorry your having to go through this. Loosing a pet is torture. What a beautiful dog he was. Thank God for the memories until you meet again. Monica
I'm so, so sorry. I can't imagine the hard time you are going through right now. :( (((hugs)))
I have had this taped to my fridge for about 7 years now:
Treat Me Kindly
"Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between blows,
your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.
Speak to me often, for your voice as the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my ear.
When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements.
And I ask no greater glory that the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Though had you no home, I would rather follow you though ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my God and I am your worshiper.
Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell when I suffer from thirst.
Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do you bidding, to walk by your side, and to stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be in danger.
And, beloved master, should the great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you.
Rather hold me gently in you arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest -
and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever in your hand."
So sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful dog, and hopefully had many good years of life with you.
Oh sweetie. I have tears streaming down my face. I so wish I could hug you and hold you right now. You helped me so much by sending me this same poem when our precious Eddie died and I wish I could help you in that same way.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. My heart is breaking for you. (((HUGS)))
So, so sorry you're losing your puppy. I still think of mine as my first "baby" -- plus, she got me through a lot of tough times when I thought she might be my only "baby." Just know that, as heartbreaking and sad as it is, you are doing the right thing. They depend on us to know what's right for them even when it hurts.
Beautiful, beautiful doggy who will always be part of your heart!
Just another blogger..who has been reading your blog for sometime now... this post hit way to close to home as I have a cat that is about 18 years old who's health is not the best.. I do believe that our beloved pets will be with us again. Its never easy. I am sorry for your loss of your family member.
I couldn't agree with you more...my Pup is a furry child :) What a beautiful dog Beneli is. Love the pic in front of the water. Beautiful. I pray life slows down for you some soon and that you adjust back to the work schedule. I can't believe the babies are already 6 months!
Hugs to you!
