Last week we read the Mother Goose rhymes Jack and Jill, Little Jack Horner and Jack Be Nimble. We read the books Jamberry and Sheep in a Jeep as well as books about jungle animals, jaguars and jellyfish.
Here are our handprint jellyfish:
Our candlestick snack after reading Jack Be Nimble. (thanks for the idea Elaine!) Sam and Anna haven't been big banana fans lately. This was just the trick to spice things up and get both to eat some banana. The next day, Sam ate 2 whole bananas by himself!
Dot marker J and j
We made green jello together... and ate it too!
Word World had a part about the letter J, so we watched it.
Eating jelly on our toast:
Sorting jelly beans:
This week, I tried a little bit of paper activities with Sam and Anna, and they seemed to like it. On this one, Anna is matching the jellyfish by tracing the dotted line. This was a good pre-writing/pre-reading activity for them because not only does it practice fine motor skills, but it practices doing things from left-right, like how we read.
Tracing Jj from top to bottom.
Matching jellybean shapes and practicing their names. Sam and Anna know all the basic shapes, but we practice so they don't forget.
Matching jelly bean colors and reviewing names:
We also had a jumping contest to see who could jump the most. I was jumping too, so I didn't take any pictures!

For letter Kk, we read books with kangaroos in them, as well as books about kittens, kites and kisses.
Here are our handprint koalas:
Dot marker K and k:
Decorating king crowns:
Wearing their king crowns proudly:
And then we had to play with the king from the little people castle wearing our king crowns, of course.
We ate lots of kiwi. Sam and Anna are big kiwi fans.
We made kites by blowing paint over paper. We talked about how blowing wind moves kites, but unfortunately there was no wind for us to really blow kites outside this week.
Finished kites
K line tracing paper
Coloring keys by color.
Exploring keys imprints in playdoh
And of course, kicking balls outside!

LB loved her candlestick snack :) Glad Sam & Anna did too!
Be looking for one of my alphabet posts where I ask you, a Kinder teacher, a specific question about something! I think it is for our R week. (I'm a little behind in posting my alphabet posts!)
