I'm Done

... in two days.

I made a decision today- after snapping at my students and feeling guilty about it, after trying to hold back the tears generated from shear exhaustion while driving to work (which felt eerily similar to what I tried to do on many drives to work at this time last year), and after looking at my unrecognizable feet when I peeled off my socks this evening:

I am done.

Friday will be my last day at work. That means I worked up to 35 weeks. 3 weeks shy of my first goal; 1 week shy of my adjusted goal. At this point, I know I could endure a few more days- but now I am really worried I won't get a chance to recover before the twins are born and I cannot fathom going through labor this worn out and then drop-kicked into parenting two newborns. I need at least a few days to restock my energy reserves to make it through the big things that are soon on the horizon.

It also means that to stay out for the rest of the school year, I will have to take 3 more unpaid weeks. I'm not really sure if that is a possibility. I'm not really sure if I can decide that later, or if I need to declare my intentions now, for paperwork. What I need (besides to be done now) is a magical money fairy to give me 2 paychecks worth of moola to make it all work out.

But I know I am done. I just have to make it through 2 more days. I promise I will do a better job of commenting on blogs next week after I get a chance to recuperate a little from the huge energy drain working has been on my body and mind lately. I've really been a slacker in that department, and I'm sorry!

Good for you! I'm amazed that you have worked this long being pregnant with twins, especially considering the fact that you teach kindergarten. You're superwoman! I hope you're able to get some much needed rest and relaxation before the little ones arrive. :-)

I can't believe that you've made it this far. Teaching sucks the energy out of me so many days and I'm not pregnant. Get some rest and relax. :)

You are still a superwoman! 35 weeks is amazing for someone to work up to with one baby - and you with two... WOW! I am totally proud of you for going as far as you have. Take it easy these next few weeks - you absolutely deserve it :)

Working 35 weeks with five year olds and having twins in the belly...you should have a medal!!

I think that your reasoning is very smart...you're going to be exhausted (happily) soon again! :o)

Good for you! I think you're making the right decision. You need tor est up before your life is taken over by twins.

Good decision! You need some rest, Mama!

Yep, great decision. And now that it's made, no second-guessing it! You'll survive somehow without those two extra paychecks. But the time to relax and gather some energy will truly be priceless, and may help keep those babies cooking a little longer.

You should be very proud of yourself.

If you're determination and drive for teaching is an example of how you'll be with new motherhood, you're going to be awesome.

Put your feet up. Enjoy this time and gear up for the biggest ride of your life.

You go, girl! 35 weeks is an amazing accomplishment. As I said on my blog recently, I am just so impressed with all my twin mommy friends. You're amazing. But you need to do what is best for YOU and your babies! So enjoy these last 2 days of work and then kick back and relax.

Good For you! Sheesh woman, you are quite the warrior to have made it this far... Try not to worry too much about the money, you'll figure it out - or you'll likely be too tired to care...=)

I hope you're able to get some rest before the babies come. I think shooting for March 6th would be fun. ;)

ONE MORE DAY!! I'm proud of you for working so hard when you are pregnant! Your last post made me sad...those people need to go fly a kite! Your pregnancy is like no others, you poured your heart, sould and wallets into this and you deserve to be treated like a princess! :)

Love the photo of the two car seats....I'm so freaking excited to meet your beautiful babies!

Yea, I'm having a hard time at 20 weeks (granted I had a bunch of snow days, and am now trying to readjust), but I'm really wondering how long I can make it.

And I hear ya about the two month's worth of paychecks!
