Project Fatten 'Em Up

We were able to get 19 month weights for both Sam and Anna because Anna's weight and iron levels were rechecked yesterday. I am very happy to report that both my little peanuts gained a whopping 2 lbs in the last month... which is phenomenal, when you consider that in the 3 months before it, they each gained less than 5 oz. (Maybe the scale was wrong that day?) At 19 months, Anna weighed 21 lbs 5 oz- back on her 5%ile curve (she had dropped off the chart last month). Sam weighed 23 lbs 6 oz, moving him up from the 5%ile at 18 months to between 10-25%ile now.  My little ones are now quadruple their birth weights!

Project Fatten 'Em Up must be working! I am happy to say too, that we have not resorted to pedisure or Carnation Instant Breakfast to get their weight up, as was thrown out there as ideas. While we do include more fattening things in their diet, I'm not one to slather syrup or butter on everything. They have been eating a lot of the organic food pouches in the last month to add some (healthy) calories. I look for the ones that have 100 or more calories, and if they eat a small amount at a meal, we give them a pouch at the end. They love them, so both Sam and Anna just gobble them up. The pouches work great as a snack on the go or in the car too. I've gotten all my pouches at Target.  Gerber has some too, but they are just as much (if not more) than the organics, so I stick to those.

We eat Happy Tot

Plum Organics

and Ella's Kitchen.

We've also been putting more effort into getting Anna to eat meat. If that means we have a red sauce (like with spaghetti or ravioli) multiple times a week, so be it!

Anna's iron levels are also going up, so the iron drops are working.  She will be on them for 2 more months, and then we'll get her iron levels rechecked at the 2 year appointment to see how she's doing.

Great going! That is an awesome gain! And what are these organic poches you are talking about?

Glad things went well in the last month! I have never heard of those food pouches. Are they just food they squeeze into their mouths or something?

Older toddlers can just hold them on their own and squeeze it/suck it- but they say for younger babies to squeeze it onto a spoon to feed them. Seriously, these things are AWESOME.

You are right! Great minds (and Momma's =) ) think alike! I LOVE these things. I get mine at Target too. Luke and Abbey love love love them!!! And they keep them entertained too. I always keep two in the diaper bag as they are a quick tantrum avoider =)
