Now Returning...

...to Reflux Hell. *sigh*

We ended up making a visit to the pedi office yesterday, after discussing our eating/sleeping concerns with the nurse. (We weren't as concerned with the crappy napping, but just mentioned it as long as we were discussing the other stuff.) The pediatrician mentioned something we hadn't heard before- that reflux typically get worse as they get older, before it gets better around (hopefully) 4 months. He thought that the problems we've had lately with eating are probably due to Sam and Anna's reflux and wants them to get at least 23-24 oz in a day. Monday and Tuesday, Sam was around 22 oz, when he used to get in close to 30 oz a day. Soooo- we are to switch formula back to the one we were using up until 2 weeks ago and see if that helps. If it doesn't, we are on our way to using Enfamil's Nutramigen- one of the most expensive formulas out there. Nutramigen is a hypoallergenic formula. Too bad we just got 4 cases of free Gentlease formula, huh?

My twins just turned two weeks old and I've been experiencing problems with reflux. I've been interested in reading what your ped. has to say versus ours. I didn't know it gets worse as they get older before it gets better. The Gentlease seems to be working pretty well with our babies so far, but I'm careful not to jinx it.

I know when my twins were babies we had to use the nutramingen also, I have to say it worked so well...We too just got free cases from Enfamil, I just called them up and explained the situation and they told me to take the cases that i was not using to pedi and they sent me the nutramigen. I also clipped every coupon I could for formula. Where ever there was a sale I stocked up. Good Luck!

The pediatrician just put Emma on Prevacid for her reflux. Have you talked about medicine yet? She tried Zantac at first but that didn't help.

I'm so sorry. :-( I hope their reflux issues go away for good soon.

Ugh, that sucks Katie. Unfortunately since Lexi is on breastmilk there is no switching option to see what works best. I think our next step is just increasing her prevacid dose, but I'm not sure. Reflux is just a huge pain to deal with. I'm sure having two babies with the same problem is overwhelming. I hope you find out what works soon!
