Sam's hair is getting a little out of control. It curls by his ears, sometimes gets major bedhead when he sleeps, and if brushed forward, reaches his eyes. He's also taken to rubbing his sticky hands on his head while eating, which is not helped at all by the length of hair up there.
At first, I planning on getting it cut right after he turned 1 year old. I thought it would be a fitting time to turn him into a "little boy," because I know how much that first haircut transforms a baby. For a little bit, we almost took the plunge right before his birthday, so he'd look good for pictures. But I hesitated. And now here we are 3 weeks after the big 1 birthday, and I still can't quite get the nerve to do it.
Calling to make an appointment is on my list of things to do. I guess I'm worried that I'm going to hate it afterwards and mourn the loss of my baby boy and those sometimes sweet little curls around his ears. I just don't know if I can do it... at least, right now.

That first haircut is hard. I resisted it for the first 3 months even though Noah's hair fell out in the WORST old man balding pattern. No hair in the front, but looooooong hair along the back and sides. I cut it right before his baptism at 3 months so it would look good for pictures. Afterward, I wished I had done it sooner.
Noah is about to have his 7th haircut. I can't stand long straight hair on my baby. If it was curly I think I'd let it be longer. But I find long straight hair is unruly to the point that it looks ridiculous instead of cute. At least on my kid!
BTW that picture of Sam is adorable!
Oh, my goodness, he's so cute that I can see why you would hesitate to cut it! It doesn't look bad to me.
Aw, I think his hair is cute. Then again, I don't have to comb carrots out of it after dinner time. :)
Jackson has very light blond hair, except for a little "neck mustache" of dark hair underneath where he rubbed a bald spot from sleeping on his back. It is comical and weird, and I keep thinking about buzzing that little 'stache off (my sister-in-law is a hair stylist, so at the next family gathering I might ask her to just do it). My husband says to leave it. I have no idea why. Hopefully now that Jackson flips and sleeps on his belly, the bald spot can at least grow in and close the gap. I am hoping he has curly hair (it is when wet and until he's slept on it a few times after a bath), in which case I will wait as long as possible to cut it. I love long curly hair on babies, boys or girls.
Good gosh, he's cute!!!
It looks good to me. And I'm pretty much a fan of short hair on boys. I say leave it until you feel really, really ready.
I don't think it looks too long at all! If you want to see a head of hair that desperately needs cutting it's my daughter's! I let hers go way out of control before I trim it because I'm sentimental like you about it. But seriously, I don't think he needs one quite yet. I'd hold off for now. He looks so cute!
Sam looks adorable. My twin boys are just 13 months now and I still don't have the heart to do a haircut. I figure when people start mistaking them for girls I'll consider it.
