After Christmas I felt like something needed to be done to tackle the large influx of new toys. I needed a little more order and I needed to keep the amount of free floor space status quo. Target was calling my name, and once there I saw these cube shelves on sale. God bless my dear husband's heart, because he agreed to assemble them the day after his wisdom teeth surgery. (So let's brush over the fact that he looks a little rough around the edges with a super swollen face and messy hair, okay?)
Sam was daddy's little helper with his new hammer from his workbench gift
I think Anna appreciated the new found order just like her mama
I am loving the shelves and wondering why we didn't do this earlier. Sam and Anna love to pull out a cube and drag it to the living room if they want to play with the contents, and, although we've always had good clean-uppers, a specific place for everything really facilitates a speedy clean up too!
* I should add that after we figure out what works best in the bins, I plan on taking pictures of the toys and putting them on the front of the bins so Sam and Anna can self select what they want more easily. Also, we totally have more paperback books than that, but I downsized and brought a bunch to my classroom. I am going to rotate some in and out as their interests change and as they get older. We also have a book bin in our living room of books.

OOO now I'm inspired. I see a trip to Target in my future today! Great idea!
We got the same shelves and cubes for Jackson's playroom and he loves to drag those cube around and empty them, refill them, over and over. I kind of want to buy more shelves and more cubes, but I'm holding back for now.
we also have the cubbies in jalen's room! had them for almost a year now! and LOVE them!! they are awesome!! I just need to get some more cubes containers! :) i wanna get a monkey one. it will match with his green and brown room! :)
LOVE it! I have those cubes at school with all of my Guided Reading stuff. But they would be perfect at home.
I also want to get one of those puzzle organizers, since we've aquired some puzzles.
I like those! Will your books-organized-by-height stay that way? That set-up looks like a really great idea.
Your hubby is such a great sport for putting the shelves together the day after his wisdom teeth being removed. I hope he is feeling better!
And the organization looks so nice and sounds like the kids are using it right away, too. The baskets are probably the perfect size to be manageable for them. I love the picture of Anna!
