So the ever important box of our med cache arrived yesterday. A total of 143 needles in the box, which seemed like a lot to me. But the amount of actual meds didn't seem like too much, honestly. I guess I expected more than that. I think the red bio hazard box is the most fun part of the whole collection. Pictures coming soon. :)
On to needles of a different kind...
Went to the plan B acupuncture place this afternoon. It was enlightening, and interesting... and well, weird and slightly uncomfortable. This lady is SO much more knowledgeable about IF and IVF than the other acupuncture guy. She even had a book, "Acupuncture and IVF" sitting out that she told me to page through while she was going over my paperwork. It was tabbed and highlighted so that reassured me a lot. She asked me what I knew about acupuncture and I mentioned reading 'The Infertility Cure." She turned around and pointed it out on her bookshelf. Having both books gave her major brownie points. She put in a total of 17 needles, gave me some Chinese herbs to take, and I will be going back about two times a week for now. After our RE appointment on June 4th and I start injections- we'll have a new plan. So going back on Tuesday and next Friday for now. Total cost for today: $75 for initial consult and first session, $15 for herbs=$90. Each session going forward will be $50.
I'm somewhat skeptical about the extent that this will help me... but at this point, if someone told me bungee jumping would improve the odds of the IVF working- I'd get past my fear of heights and do it. Research says acupuncture ups our % chance of success. So we'll see.
Ah, the things we never realized we'd do in pursuit of a baby.

Snap. I just had my first acupuncture yesterday! I found it really fascinating and I did feel strange sensations throughout my body during the treatment so I hope it sorts stuff out! Wishing you the best for this cycle. Happy ICLW!
I still have my red biohazard box filled with needles stashed away in a cabinet. Matt asked me about getting rid of it the other day and I told him no. I feel like it's my little souvenir.
Sounds like your new acupuncturist knows what she's talking about. I agree with trying (almost)anything. I think I drank nothing but green tea for almost a month straight at one point because of something I read about green tea and fertility.
Thanks for visiting my blog! :)
Sounds like your acupuncturist knows her stuff. I found "The Infertility Cure" at the library, and that's what started me down this road. The practitioner I go to has a section of her website dedicated to infertility (and the book), which was why I chose her. I hope it works, for both of us!!

I'm so stoked you got all your meds! You're moving right along. I did acupuncture way back when we were less than a year in to TTC. It was really bizarre at first, I was doing two times a week with herbs as well. Would you believe my insurance actually covered that???! Not my HSG or Brian's SA, but acupuncture... Probably because it didn't have the IF label on it yet. Once the newness wears off, I think you'll really enjoy it. And beyond that I REALLY hope that it helps get you the BFP you deserve.
I totally agree. I'll do anything if there's some chance it will increase my odds. I've been doing acupuncture. I downloaded an IVF meditations CD. I even heard that fresh pineapple and walnuts help with implantation, so I've been eating them since my transfer yesterday. I figure they can't hurt and we're in for thousands of dollars. What's a few more. And I'm glad the new acupuncturist seems like a better fit.
So true!! I haven't tried many "other" things yet, but it's all swimming around my head... I hope the acupuncture, and more importantly your IVF cycle, are successes!! :)
Have you thought about your DH doing acupuncture for his morph? I have thought about my DH doing it but I don't know if he actually WOULD, lol.
