Our insurance covers nothing that is infertility related. This is an estimate of what we have spent in our journey to have a biological child.
OBGyn appointments, Clomid, B/W, etc: approx. $5,642
OV Watch, OPKs, vitamins: approx. $1,000
Urologist appointments: $565
Endometrial biopsy: $351
HSG: $ 1,354
RE (appointments and IVF): $14,535
Acupuncture: $687 +
IVF meds: $2,467 (223+ needles; I stopped counting)
Estimated rounded total: $26,561
And that, folks, is the magical number that it took for me to get pregnant.

Yuch, it's hard to look at a price tag. But worth every penny :)
Of course, divide it by 2! Least you got double bang for your buck.
You've got your miracles! I'd say you got a bargain!
I just got a statement from my insurance that says they aren't covering the procedure... grrr... at least I prepaid my Dr though... I think I have a fight on my hands...
I'm feeling really guilty. I wish I could share my insurance with you. I'm so glad, though, that the first IVF worked for you. You're still on my prayer list!
Wowzah!!! That's a lot of cash!!!
I love the new look...very pretty!!
To put it in perspective- we live in the midwest. $26,000 is a lot more moola than it would be on the east or west coast. My husband's total yearly salary is around $30,000. Amazing that we made it work, huh?
I'm on the east coast and $26k still sounds like a lot of money to me!! Wow. It's crazy how expensive IF treatments are. They've got to make some changes so that insurance covers most (if not all) of this stuff. It's not like we choose to be infertile. Anyway, I bet it's at least a little easier to look at that number knowing you have two tiny babies growing in your belly. :)
Hey that's right around our number to. I stopped counting but I can still estimate!!
It looks like you didn't have to do genetic screening, though. Our RE required it (you know - conservative Midwest) and, man, was that expensive!!
Anyway, you got a two-fer and it will all be worth it when you bring those little babies home. Hugs!
I think it is funny, in retrospect, that I thought the endometrial biopsy wasn't cheap- and then did the HSG and was stressed about how much that cost. Ha- if only I knew then what I know now.
It is DEFINITELY easier to look at that number knowing we have babies on the way. And SO worth it.
I read a comment on a blog from someone who said that she and her husband joked that their baby's middle name would be VISA. Cracked me up.
The costs are just brutal.
Oh, sweetie, it's so hard, isn't it? We're lucky that we have some coverage, but we've still spent almost $19,000 and have to pay about $5000 for a FET and we're still not pregnant. :(
And to think some teenagers can smoke, drink and everything and can get pregnant for free.
Something's wrong with that picture.
Yes, twondra...something is very wrong with that picture!
Oh Katie, you spent so much BUT it is honestly worth it! You have two beautiful little ones growing inside you...I'm a little envious right now! :)

Of course children are priceless, but when I added it all up our son cost about $30,000 (just to make, not even to birth!)
Think of it this way, you're getting two for the price of one!
I have seen bumper stickers which say "Million Dollar Baby on Board"... may be we IF'ers really shuold put up something like that. ;) Anyhow... your twins are priceless! Thanks for your wishes and your support! I am trying to take it easy! I think the initial panic helped me not panic again right now! :P
