Yesterday was a crazy day in our household. About 11 am we were heading to the ER. Not for me- but for my husband. He was having crazy abdominal pain in his right side. You know what's on the right side, right? -His appendix, for those of you that need a little anatomy review.
After hours in the ER, and after my husband getting his turn getting vials of blood drawn (I'm still one vial up on him this week though), getting an u/s (u/s of gall bladders and other internal organs are NOT as interesting as an u/s of a uterus, just fyi), it was decided he did indeed have appendicitis and was ushered into surgery right away. Well not right away- some time around 4:30 pm. Meanwhile, while this pregnant lady with raging hormones was trying to keep it together, my body was staging a protest about no food, water, or a nap for over 6 hours. When I was waiting for him to be brought up to his room, a very kind nurse gave me apple juice and a string cheese so I wouldn't faint.
The surgery went well- his appendix had not ruptured and he recovered in the hospital until about 10 pm that night. Then I brought my sweetie home. Today was supposed to be my first day back officially working at school without students, but I needed to a.) take care of him b.) recuperate myself from not doing such a hot job of taking care of myself yesterday. I was so overtired, exhausted and worn out that I couldn't sleep. I alternated tossing and turning with crying with exhaustion most of the night. Today, he seems to be doing ok. I'm doing better, too.
Oh, and side note: Just like I have vented about in the past- when I'm gone, my co-teachers like to make major decisions with no regard to waiting until I'm there to have input. This time they decided to completely redo our assessment throughout the year and report card while I wasn't there, although we do have work time that we could use to do that on Wednesday. I also need to mention how much time I spent last spring working on aligning our new reading program to our current testing, and what they "decided" today is really stupid. How nice of them to send me an email letting me know. What a great start to the school year.

How weird...I was googling "appendicitis symptoms" on Friday night because Matt was having lower right abdominal pain. Thankfully, his subsided. Poor Jake. I am glad he's home and doing better now. How scary though!
Glad to hear everything is okay. If I hadn't seen your facebook update your title would have freaked me out!!!
I'm still sorry your coworkers suck.
Hope your DH is feeling better...did I read your post right? He went to the ER, had surgery and was released all the same day??!!
Sorry your co-workers "suck".
Oh... poor Jake... glad he is doing better now! You definitely needed the rest, glad you stayed back home! Take care!
What a crazy couple of days!!! I'm glad he's doing better now!!!
That is so annoying when teams make decisions while you're gone...just think...you get to leave early for maternity leave!!! YESSSSS!! ;o)
I'm so glad your hubby is ok. Take care of yourself and get some rest! Hope the rest of the week is better for you.

I'm so glad that your DH is ok and you are bouncing back, too! What a crazy week - back at work, then in the ER! Love the u/s pics!
I'm so glad your hubby is okay! How scary! I'm really sorry they did that to you in school. I know how much that can suck especially when you put so much time into aligning the reading to your current testing. Big hugs!

Wow, I was playing catch up on your blog but never expected to read this. I'm glad your DH is doing better. That must have been so stressful for you.
Good grief. I'm so sorry you had to go thru that, but I'm very glad Jake is doing better.
congratulations on your pregnancy!
i have enjoyed following your blog.
Katie--I hope you and Jake are recovering from the whole ordeal. It had to have been quite stressful and draining. By now, I hope you are both relaxing and resting as much as you can this weekend. Also, just think next weekend is Labor Day weekend, so you will get an extra day off.
Thanks Katie! I just check out her blog! I am trying to stay positive! :)
