I talked to my OB's nurse- her comment: wash my hands a lot. Nice. Obviously she has not spent a lot of time in a kindergarten classroom. I don't think that is going to keep kids from coughing/sneezing in my face, or me leaning over them to help with their work. I can't wash my hands every minute to keep the germs from the kids that pick their nose, put their hands in their mouths, or put anything else in their mouths completely away. They spread their germs everywhere. Remember- I barely have time to go to the bathroom and eat and drink when I need too as it is. They said to call if I have flu like symptoms. Um kay. Like feeling nauseous? Check. Coughing? Check. Headaches and body aches? Check. Fatigue? Check. How to tell the difference between twin pregnancy related nausea, aches, and fatigue and flu symptoms? I'm not really sure.
I also realized that the little girl helped me get my applesauce out of the refrigerator (down the hall) for me the last day she was in school. I cannot for the life of me remember if I used hand sanitizer before or after she handed me the applesauce. Sigh. At least she's not one of my most in-your-face kids. But what if her lovely germs have already been spread to other students in my room? I couldn't help but think today: who's an infected, contagious virus walking around my room this very second?
And also, apparently her doctor said she would be able to come back to school on Monday. Our school rule is 24 hours without a fever for any reason. How can the doctor guarantee her fever will be gone to say that?

Just wear a surgical mask all day. That won't freak the kiddies out much.
That sucks trying to survey possible flu symptoms when 99% are the same as pregnancy....except the fever, maybe. That's always been my first flu symptom, or a sore throat.
I'm sorry. :-( Too bad you can't just enclose yourself in a protective bubble all day. Praying for you.
Good grief...this is so annoying...how on earth is she getting to go back on Monday??? She should be quarentined for a bit longer than that I would think!!!!!! I guess we'd better keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in our pockets at all times!!
More than washing your hands I'd say DON'T TOUCH YOUR FACE.
You're not going to catch anything just by it being on your skin. You're right, you can't always have clean hands. I'm a teacher too, and I get that! But don't touch your face, and that'll go a long way to preventing it.
Easier said than done. I'm such a face toucher. But you have high motivation here to remember not to.
Having HINI in such close proximity is scary stuff. I think I agree with Courney - you need to be Bubble Woman! I can just see you trying to help the kids with this big bubble around you...
Seriously though, I hope that the prenatals are helping to keep your risk of catching the virus to a minimum...
Scary. :( I wish there was something you could do to protect yourself more. Just washing your hands doesn't sound nearly enough. :(
I use to keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket at all times when I was teaching...you need it with little ones! I hope you don't catch anything! LOL, I have no clue how you would tell between preggo symptoms and the flu!

I know you probably don't need any more advice, but when I taught kinder I put a bottle of hand sanitizer on their tables. They really loved to use it all the time! And they LOVED using clorox wipes around the room. If you are really concerned you can have them do this all the time!!! I asked all my parents to bring these in as school supplies and they lasted forever!
Also I saw this cool lesson about germs on the news. You put glitter all over their hands (like germs) then have only some of them use soap to remove it. They shoild still have some glitter left over. The ones with soap should be cleaner.
Good luck!!!!!
