Needles- smeedles. Total count is now up to 70 (acupuncture) needles, and injections start in two days! Acupuncture continues to go well. On Friday I had major back pain and so the acu-lady (as I tend to refer to her, rather than Cheryl) put in two more and wham! Back pain gone in less than 24 hours. As someone who deals with back pain on an almost regular basis, that is simply awesome. Today I even managed to fall asleep with 17 needles poking into my skin- something she told me would probably happen, but I doubted.
I also need to brag a little bit, non-IF related. A little background: Students at our school take a computerized test called MAPS three times a year. We finished testing last week and got the results. My class did a phenomenal job on both the reading and the math tests. I am so proud of them! After looking at the other 6 kindergarten classes- no class even comes close to our averages, gains since the last test in January, or top scores. Over half of my class scored in the 90%tile or higher for reading. I don't believe in merit pay for teachers- but if we had it, I would definitely have some extra money coming my way! It is good to feel validated that I can do something well, if getting PG isn't.
Thanks to IF, my self-esteem tends to often take a hit. (Why can't my body overcome Jake's sperm issues? Why can't I get PG? Why does everyone else get what I can't have? Do I not deserve to be a mom? are questions in the back of my mind that I can supress sometimes better than others) I am glad that I have two new reasons this week to lift myself up.

I can't wait for accupuncture - i'm kinda excited about it ;) i was supposed to start it next week, but I'm pushing it back to the end of June. My sister says is pretty fabulous...
Awesome job at work! I know what you mean about the self esteem! :)
That's awesome that your class did so well! Good luck starting the injections this week. Let us know how it goes.
That's amazing news about your students, Congrats!! I'm happy the acupunture seems to be helping even your backpain, that's always a plus. GL with starting injections in a few days. :-)
Great news about your students!! And I totally understand how IF impacts your self esteem. You DO deserve to be a mom and you WILL! Good luck starting your stims!
Hugs,

Congratulations, Katie! Your students did so well you have every reason to be super proud.
Just one thing, I'm sure you can do many, many things very well. Don't put pregnancy in there because you have no control over it, so it'd be like comparing apples and oranges. I know the feelings very well, but bear that in mind because that kind of comparison is just not fair on you.
Good luck with the injections! I'll be thinking of you.
Congratulations to you and your class. You must be glowing with pride. I bet you're an amazing teacher!
As for the acupuncture, isn't it great? So glad to hear it helped with your back pain.
Lift yourself up! the tests are a great testament to your dedication to your teaching. A phenomenal job! Kudos to you and your kiddos!
I wish you so much peace and prosperity on this journey!
That is awesome Katie! Your talent is definitely showing through your kids and you should be very proud! They are lucky to have you as a teacher! I'm glad that acupuncture is going well and that it's already starting to help some physical issues! I think you made a really good choice to start treatment. I think it's awesome you are focusing on the positive, that will only help your mental outlook through IVF and can only help your chances!
Congrats on your MAP scores! Our district is completely focused on using MAP results as a tool to guide instruction! Fun, fun! :)
Good to hear things are going well with the aqu-lady! And totally awesome that your kids did so well on their tests. That will be a nice send off into summer for you.
It's funny how the web brings you to people when you need to see them. I have been suffering from a herniated disc for over two years now. Doctors pretty much won't do ANYTHING other than dope me up until my lady bits go numb, they say. OH JOY. I've been wanting to try accupuncture but haven't actually talked to anyone with a chronic back condition who had success. So thanks for this post! I think I'm gonna finally make the call.
On an entirely different note..........so, I'm a breeder. I hope it's ok to say this..........
My oldest is named Katie. One reason I picked the name is because I've never met anyone named Katie who wasn't an awesome person. When your self esteem takes a hit, just remember...you're a Katie, and all Katie's are great people. :)
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog! I'm so glad you did. I'll be continuing to follow your journey, if that's okay. :)
I see you're from Wisconsin...I am too. :) Which city do you live in?
Congrats on your class doing so well! That's awesome!
Katie, that is great news about the MAP scores. If I lived in your area, I would be honored for you to teach my child. Of course, that means I have to have one first...hmmm, might be a problem...
